Homer praised it's beauty and its fertile land, Shakespeare found the perfect background for his Tempest. There are many ways to describe Corfu, but one word says it all... breathtaking.
Corfu is small enough to be friendly yet large enough to provide a never ending change of scenery.
Sun-kissed beaches, elegant architecture, abundant cultural activities and enchanting nightlife all play their part in attracting visitors from all over the world.
Situated in the north-western corner of Greece and not far from the heel of Italy, Corfu attracts thousands of tourist from all over the world.
Corfu's colourful history is displayed through its unique archaeological sites and the varied architecture in and around the town centre.
Explore the island and you will be rewarded with some of the most spectacular scenery on offer in any destination. Head north along the east coast and you will come to Dassia and Ipsos and their long beaches and many restaurants. The north east coastline offers some of the best scenery on the island and is dotted with small resorts such as Kaminaki and Agni. Kassiopi, a lively and picturesque resort, is famous for its lace industry. Acharavi and Roda share the island's longest stretch of beach and Sidari, a hive of activity with a British flair on the north west tip, is famous for its amazing cliffs. The west coast offers some fabulous sandy beaches and pretty resorts such as Arillas, Agios Stefanos, Agios Gordis and Glyfada.  Paleokastritsa arguably has some of the best views available anywhere in the world. The south also has its fair share of fine beaches and Lefkimmi, the capital of the south, is the second largest town on the island. Benitses is a unique resort combining lazy days with pleasant nights and Messonghi and Moraitika have something to offer young and old alike. Kavos, last but by no means least, is definitely the place to be for sun and fun.
If you are sports minded then Corfu is the place for you. There is a multitude of watersports available including water-skiing, paragliding and scuba diving.
For the golfer in the family there is a superb 18 hole championship golf course. Other leisure activities include cricket played on possibly one of the most picturesque pitches around, tennis in Greece's oldest tennis club and walking, climbing, horse riding, sailing and fishing to name just a few more.
With a welcome as warm as the sun, the Corfiot people have their own unique brand of hospitality. The greenest of all the Greek islands, Corfu is an easy place to get to, but a difficult place to leave!
