Situated in the heart of the lovely resort of Dassia on the east coast of Corfu, Great Shakes Bar is British owned and run and celebrates it's 20th year this year. A big party in June 07 if you're around then!
Owner Ken, from Glasgow, left the Metropolitan Police in London to open Shakes in 1987. He married Sarah in 1996 and together they run the bar with their loyal team.
Our staff are a real friendly bunch who will make you feel more than welcome and give you great service with a smile. Rachel, as many of you will know, had a summer off last year as she and husband Wiz welcomed their new daughter Emma into the world. She's back with us again this year and Londoner Alan will more than likely be making several guest appearances behind the jump for yet another season! For all our new customers, you'll soon get to know us all.
We have a wide variety of nightly entertainment planned and you can either join in the fun or sit back and watch everyone else with our live music, karaoke, film and music quizzes, music theme nights and cash prize bingo. With 2 large screen televisions and other screens, we also have plenty of football and and show all the major sport events.
The Good Old Boys are our local live band who perform every week banging out a huge variety of well known hits ranging from the swinging 60s right through to the present day. Sing-a-long to the hits, get up and have a dance or just sit back, relax and watch - the choice is entirely yours.
As the only 'pub' in Dassia, we offer a great selection of draught beers such as John Smith's Extra Smooth, Strongbow Cider and Guinness Draught Surger as well as an Austrian Pilsner. We also have a selection of local draught beers including Amstel, Mythos and Alpha. We've got the popular bottled imports such as Smirnoff Ice, Bacardi Breezer, Magners and WKD and our three flavours of Slush are a huge hit with the kids (and the adults seem to be quite partial to it with a splash of vodka!)
We love kids here at Shakes, (couldn't eat a whole one though) and have a variety of toys and games to help keep them amused while mum & dad relax.
For those of you who need your fix, we have wireless internet access available if you wish to bring a laptop with you. For our regular customers, you are free to use our computer to check emails and keep in touch with back home.
